… that is missing. Last year, I lost my 3 bedroom home in a forclosure and invested in some very expensive outdoor power equipment to maintan my property. Now, I’m in a 2 bedroom apartment and have no room for storage. Upon moving into the apartment last August, I asked my landlord if it would be ok if I could store some of my outdoor power equipment in one of the storage rooms. I told him that I would use it to help maintain the grounds around my building and the building across the street. He said it would be fine. Some of the items I was storing are a 6.5 hp Toro personal pace mower, a Mantis rototiller and a Echo split shaft trimmer.
Last week I had asked the landlord if I could get my equipment to do some work around the properties. When he opened the doors to both storage rooms my equipment was missing! He stated that the supervisor may have moved it to his brothers house in a different city. When I asked the supervisor, he claimed that it may have been stolen.
The supervisor is the only other person other than the landlord that has key to the storage rooms. I then asked the landlord to confront the supervisor on the where abouts of my belongings.
Do I have any legal recourse in this matter? My missing equipment is valued at over $1000.00 and I do have receipts and owners manuals to prove ownership. Please help!
I suspect that the supervisor is the one that has stolen the equipment since he is the one with a key and he lives in one of the units on the property. I am affraid that if I confront the supervisor again that he might get spooked and move the equipment from his brothers house to another location.
