Would I use a tiller for prepping my lawn for laying down gravel?

30 Jun

I have a small strip of yard that gets no sun and is overrun by weeds. I’m thinking about a small Japanese dry garden. I would like 8 inches of gravel but I’m sure I don’t have that much space on the top. Would I use a tiller to scrape off 8 inches? Or is there another invention for this type of job? Bobcats are out of the question. It must be hand operated.

What do you think about late abortion provider Dr. Tiller?

07 Jun

Was he providing a service that was medically necessary, or doing something immoral that should have been outlawed? Either way, he didn’t deserve to get killed, but I was wondering about people’s thoughts on this.

I couldn’t get the tiller started…so I wrote this instead…?

06 Jun

Primer red, short bed, steering wheel covered with time.
Time spent, stories lent, cracked seats groaning with grime.
Grime earned, lessons learned, a soft tinge of burning oil,
Oil on hands, taking stands, with fields still to be toiled.

Toiled the rows, dirty toes, shoes not worn on all feet,
feet tired, thoughts mired, body is needing its sleep,
sleep far, tired as tar, keep moving ’til row is done,
done did, wishes hid, battle with debt not yet won.

Am I the only one that does not feel the least bit sympathy for “Tiller the Killer”?

04 Jun

I just feel sickened how this guy (who butchered fully formed human beings) is painted as a “martyr”….

Why would you all let your emotions be controlled and driven by the media to think this way? Think for yourself for once!:

I am reminded of Soon Ok-Lee’s “Eyes of the tailless animals”, her account of being imprisoned in North Korea and of the women prisoners who would have babies and the guards would put poisons in the womb, and if the babies were born alive, they would simply put on hand on the body, one on the head, and twist… repeat.

Now, would you feel more sympathy for these guards than the babies they killed? Who cares if the mother approves it or not, the baby dies either way.

Don’t let your minds be controlled by the media and public opinion, if you do, you are no different from a North Korean citizen worshipping Kim in fear and afraid of saying the wrong thing or else you get thrown in a labor camp.

I am sure Killer’s future will be “warm”….
rejectedzipper-

of course, everything that is legal is good. in North Korea, it is legal to put Christians in concentration camps and pour molten metal on their heads to kill them (see aforementioned book).

I applaud your reasoning you wise sage.

Also, Tiller made a career (and a lot of money) killing thousands of babies. Do you honestly believe all of those were “for the health of the mother”? he’s been doing this for decades, 99% of those were most likely girls who got knocked up and waited to the last minute to kill their child.

Tiller w/ Briggs&Stratton 4.75 hp engine not working looking for advice.?

04 Jun

The tiller is 3 y/o. paid apprx $250 for it. Worked great until start up the next day. Cord won’t pull and flywheel is stuck. Looking for info from the small engine repair gurus out there. Is it worth fixing? What is the MOST likely problem?
Thanx for the 1st round of answers. New problem developed today. I got the rope to move and the flywheel to turn. Now, there is no turnover except for when I prime. After that, I get about 3 seconds of fire before it dies again. I repeated this about 30 times and cannot get it to fire w/out priming.

Is the plug fouled enough to only spark with the prime?
Any other thoughts?

Was the killing of pro-choice Dr. George Tiller an act of terrorism?

03 Jun

I want this to be a deep question. Please give more than a yes or a no.

A lot of people seem to consider him just a murderer. Think about what he did though, he shot an American citizen in a public place, for his ideology. I can sort of understand his opinions; I have no doubt that he believes that abortions are murder. Thus, according to his belief, by killing this one doctor, he could save the lives of hundreds of people. However, people seem to consider him differently from middle eastern terrorists.

If you had the same core beliefs as some Islamic terrorists, you probably wouldn’t consider some of their attacks as terrible. They believe that American society is encroaching on their fundamental values. And it probably is; America as well as Democracy and Capitalism have historically been a force for worldwide secularism. However, it seems to me that most Americans cannot relate to Islamic extremists or even fathom these beliefs. On the other hand, most people can understand the viewpoints of the Christian fundamentalists.

Recently, there was a more traditional act of terrorism in the US, the “Times Square Bomb Scare”. I have certainly heard people ranting that the suspect of the crime should have not been read his Miranda rights, and even though it would be unconstitutional, many people also felt that we should have sent him to Guantanamo Bay. If the Kansas abortion killer, Scott Roeder was part of a larger organization, do you think people would have wanted him in Guantanamo? What does this say about our culture?

What percentage of the population supports the killing of Dr. Tiller?

01 Jun

In a previous question, my answer was:
“There is no justification for the man that killed him, regardless of your stance on abortion.”

5 thumbs up
8 thumbs down

That’s roughly 62% of the respondents that disagree with my statement. OK, I’m not exactly in favor of partial birth abortion myself, but this doesn’t justify killing this man. Killing him only marginalizes the cause of stopping partial birth abortion. Do people actually think that killing him was OK?

Why is late term abortionist George Tiller being painted as a martyr in the media?

01 Jun

Since his murder Sunday, the media has been almost celebrating the life of this evil man. I am pro life and feel that all forms of murder are wrong and that George Tillers assassin should be punished. I just don’t understand why people are painting Tiller out to be a good man when he was not. Here is a small sample of Tiller’s handy work……

The story of Sarah Brown
California Right to Life
Baby girl Sarah was born on July 15, 1993, in Wichita, Kansas. She had survived a late term abortion attempt on her 15 year old mother. The infant’s mother had been brought nine hundred miles by her parents, to the office of George Tiller, infamous late term abortionist of Wichita, Kansas. This is the same clinic and the same abortionist who recently was contacted by Arizona authorities to commit a late term abortion on a 14 year old Arizona ward of the courts who was 26 weeks pregnant.

The partial-birth abortion procedure was not yet in vogue. Sarah, as she was later named by her adoptive parents, was already positioned in the womb to be born. The abortionist injected the baby’s head, in two places, the left side of her forehead above the eyebrow and at the base of the skull, with potassium Chloride, leaving permanent burn marks and needle track scars. The pregnant 15 year old left the office with the admonition to return the next day for the completion of the abortion.

Much to everyone’s dismay, the baby had not died in the intervening hours, but was still alive. The 15 year old was sent to the local hospital where the baby was eventually born. The delivery room staff, familiar with handling Tiller’s mistakes, wrapped up the baby, set her in a bassinet and left her without attendance. The 15 year old girl and her parents went home.

Twenty-four hours later though she had not been cleaned up, the umbilical cord had been improperly severed and she had had no nourishment, Sarah continued to live. A nurse in the newborn unit of the hospital finally took pity on the child. She called an attorney with whom she was familiar and explained the situation. The attorney called Bill and Mary Kay Brown and asked them to come to the hospital and rescue this remarkable child.

Though hospital staff predicted that the baby would not survive more than 8 weeks,Bill and Mary Kay and their seven children took Sarah home, adopted her and loved her till the day she died of kidney failure, at age five. If she had received attention during that 24 hour period, some of the effects of the brain damage might have been lessened. Only when the Brown’s filed for adoption was the child issued a birth certificate.

The potassium Chloride destroyed the left portion of Sarah’s brain leaving her blind, unable to walk and totally dependent upon the love and care of others. She required 15 different types of medication, two and three times a day, to synthetically replace what had been destroyed. Bill and Mary Kay took turns, even through the night, repositioning Sarah in her bed so that she never got bed sores. She required an apnea monitor and a heart and lung machine recording her oxygen levels. Because of the damage to her brain her physical growth was impaired. At age five she weighed 25 lbs and was the size of a two year old.

The Browns insurance company refused to include Sarah in the family’s coverge. She was provided with health care coverage by Bill Brown’s company, but at age 4, removed from coverage when her medical expenses became to costly. Mary Kay claims that it was, once again, the pro life community and local, private agencies who provided the most financial and compassionate support.
Sarah had two funeral services, one in the Southern Baptist church of her father, Bill Brown, and the second in the Catholic church of her mother, Mary Kay, presided over by Wichita Bishop, Eugene Gerber. Between the two services eight hundred people attended Sarah’s funeral.
Mary Kay claims that the hardest part of caring for Sarah was the verbal abuse the family endured from strangers. From, as she put it, other pro death people. The Browns moved from Wichita to Valleycenter, a rural farming community, because of a particularly ugly encounter with someone claiming that the Browns had done Sarah an injustice allowing her to live.

According to Mary Kay, Sarah was never viewed as a burden by any member of her family. What with seven other children and help from members of the local and pro life community, there was always someone around to hold, talk to or touch Sarah. During the adoption procedures it was necessary to subpoena the birth mother’s medical records. There was nothing in the record to indicate that any of the medical problems faced by Sarah were genetic or inherited in any way. She would have been a normal, blue eyed, reddish blonde haired little girl.

Mary Kay’s brother summed up everbody’s feelings at the funeral when he declared that George Tiller had succeeded in killing Sarah, it just took him five years
